Build A Website From Scratch
Before we can build a website from scratch we need at least five things.
1) Domain name:
2) Hosting account:
3) Html editor:
4) Ftp client:
5) Image resizing software:
1) You will need to get a domain name in order to do this you have to go to a domain name registra and the one most commonly used is go daddy.com but its entirely up to the individual what they use.
2) Next you will have to have a hosting account the most popular would be hostgator.com.
Now once you have signed up to hostgator they will send you an email so i would suggest you keep that safe as you will be needing that later on.
There is however one thing i would like to point out if you registered at go daddy.com but didnt use their hosting services you would have to direct the registra to your hosting company because they dont know where to find them.
So now all you would do is go that email that was sent to you from your hosting company and look for Dns which means domain name servers.
Then copy and paste that information into your go daddy.com account under manage domains etc.
3) Third most important thing is to get an html editor this is software that you use to build a website from scratch and the one i personally use is Komposer and the best "part is its totally free".
There are many others out there that you can use but again its entirely up to the individual.
4) Next up you will need whats called an FTP client ( ftp stands for file transfer protocol) which basically means for your files on your computer to be transferred or uploaded to to your hosting company you will need to download some software called Filezilla.
Now once you have this installed on your computer and you have files to upload normally you would upload to hosts's public-html directory but check in your email that they sent you it will give you that information.
5) Imaging resizing software:
Now you need to download this software and the one i reccomend is Irfanview and what it does is exactly what it says if,
you had an image you just downloaded and the file size was too big to fit into your webpage you would resize it rather than try to click and drag image because it makes it distorted and, again the best part its totally Free."""
I would say about up to 1Kb is fine for images.
Also another piece of software i use is a pdf converter lets say you wanted to create an ebook and you used Microsoft word you then need to convert it to a pdf format so the free one i use is Primo Pdf.
Then you can give this ebook as a free gift and build your list.

Why you shouldn’t build a website from scratch
With technology there will always be something new that will replace the old version making it obsolete. The same may be true with static HTML web pages vs dynamic web pages. I do believe their may always be a place for basic HTML websites. However, there are many downsides to using only HTML and CSS to create web pages. Here are just a few examples of why you shouldn't build a website from scratch using HTML and CSS only.
1.) There is quite a bit of a learning curve when building entire websites from scratch using only HTML and CSS.
2.) Managing your web pages, photos, videos, links, and content relies completely on your organizational skills.
3.) There will more than likely be additional functions or features you would like to add to your website that will exceed your programming skills.
4.) When adding new web pages you will need to manually add links to the new web pages you have created within the website.
5.) When deleting web pages you will need to be sure you remove the links to the deleted web pages or you will have dead links through out your entire website.
6.) There will be no short cuts for Search Engine Optimization. You will have to manually write your title tag, meta description, and meta keywords on every page you create.
7.) If you do decide to switch to a content management system or shopping cart in the future it may be very difficult to import your website to the new system.
8.) Last but not least, creating this kind of website is incredibly time consuming and can cause a lot of unnecessary frustration.
Whether you are building a website for your first time or are a seasoned veteran, I highly recommend using a content management system or even a blogging platform like WordPress. When using a publishing platform like WordPress you have many options on prebuilt free templates and the ability to add just about any functionality imaginable with just a few clicks. WordPress is also a great content management system that will help you keep your web pages, posts, videos, photos, links, and content incredibly organized. Also, using well known software to build your website is a great idea due to the amount of support forums that will be available. There is nothing worse than getting stuck, frustrated, and not being able to find someone to help you out.
So, If I had to give one piece of advice to someone that was thinking about building a website from scratch, I would urge them to use a content management system like WordPress or the many others that are available. This gives you the chance to put a lot more time into the fun stuff that comes with owning a website or blog. Another thing to note is that most of the content management systems available are completely free and can be installed in a matter of minutes.
