When choosing a domain name, try to base it on your main keyword phrase for better search engine ranking. Also make sure it memorable and as short as possible. You will probably battle to get a one word domain name, but try not to go more than three words if you can help it. Try and get a catchy name, and in this way people will remember the name of your website and revisit if they enjoyed what they read.

Once you have your domain name, remember to put it on auto renew. In this way you will be sure to renew on time and avoid losing your domain name when it expires.

When you choose your hosting for your website, just remember that you will get what you pay for. Free hosting is a bad idea, as you will have to put up with their ads all over your website, as well as poor service. A cheap host will have the same problems. Make sure to do your research on the internet, and read reviews on various different hosts before making the choice that will suit your needs the best.

The other thing to check when choosing your hosting, is to check that you will get the support when you need it. There is nothing worse than having problems with your website, and nobody is there to support you and help you sort it out.

Make sure that the web hosting company that you go with has also got a control panel. This is known as cpanel and it is necessary to enable you to perform many different actions within your website. You can also transfer your website to another host if you need to if there is a cpanel in place.
